[PNO] Arc III, Act I - Torrid Trepidation
All hell had broken loose. A loud crash sounded out, as if the very earth itself was crying in pain from the impact. The smell of dirt, debris, and the lingering, choking burn of smoke threatened to suffocate him. Harle was curled under a table at present, unable to look upon the wreckage. It could happen to him next, and he wouldn’t even know it. The rumbling continued, causing the room and all its contents to shake violently. It could all be over in a second. Harle hugged his sister close. He didn’t want to let go as the wind and sleet pounded upon the windows, rattling like sinister laughter. Some of them had long since broken, causing icy droplets to ricochet from the floor unpleasantly. He told himself he was hugging Jackie for her sake, but he knew it wasn’t true. The ash and shrapnel were violently thrown about the ground surrounding them, making it difficult to drive. By far the worst part, though, was the fire still raging around them, engulfing anything and everything.
